How to Stage your Home in a Hurry!

Ideally you should have a week or two available before you list your property in order to stage your home and make it look its best for buyers. But, what if you listed quickly and within hours of the For Sale sign going up a buyer wants to view your property?

In that scenario, you need to do some quick “staging” to get your home ready and here are some other things you can do.

Tidy Curb Appeal: I’ve mentioned before, your curb appeal is extremely important because it is the first impression a buyer will have of your home. If you don’t have the time to groom the lawn and shrubbery, the easiest way to freshen up your curb appeal on a time constraint is put away any clutter such as hoses, trash containers, toys, sprinklers, etc. Broaden your outdoor space by moving cars out of the driveway. Doing so is more inviting and will also give the buyer a convenient place to park.

Lighting & Open Windows: Your home should always be looking its brightest before a showing. To highlight your home in the best light, open the curtains, even at night. This will make each room seem brighter, more appealing, and more spacious. To make sure lighting throughout the house is bright and comfortable and warm, in darker areas, plug in a lamp. Also, open the windows to air out your home, especially in the kitchen if you’ve just cooked.

Tidy your Entrance Area. Buyers should have clear entry to your home. Clear away as much as you can in the foyer. Make that space look open, uncluttered and welcoming. So make sure to remove any items from the closet floors (such as shoes) and organize those cluttered coat hooks or closets.

Use Storage: Pull out some storage bins and baskets! Put away personal knick-knacks (like that bowling trophy) and other personal items to reduce clutter on shelves and countertops.

Wipe Down Surfaces and Windows: Clear countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms. Put the old toaster oven out-of-sight. Also be sure to dust and wipe down any surfaces of debris and get things shining!

Clean Up: Do a swift clean of each room! Sweep and vacuum where necessary and organize the décor to appear crisp and tidy. If you don’t have any staging décor to break out, that’s okay! Simply make the beds in each room and fluff pillows on the sofas.
